Ways to Save Wear and Tear on Your Vehicle

No matter if your vehicle is old or new, you want to keep it in the best running shape possible. Below are some tips to help you save wear and tear on your car and to make it run for years to come.

If you are pulling into a station to fill up your tank and you see a gasoline tanker filling it with fuel; you should not fill up at that time. You should go to another gas station or come back the next day. The underground tanks at a gas station get stirred up when they are being filled and this stirs up the sediment. The sediment in the gas can clog fuel filters and fuel injectors. If this happens your vehicle will run poorly.

If you get stuck in mud or snow you should try gently rocking back and forth to get unstuck. If it seems you are really stuck you shouldn’t keep trying to get unstuck. By throwing your car back and forth between drive and reverse repeatedly can cause tire damage, and burn up your clutch or transmission. It is always a good idea to carry something in your trunk that can help you get traction if you are stuck; such as sand, gravel or cat litter.

You should try to avoid exceeding your car’s roof load specifications or weight limits. If possible you should try to get a heavy load delivered so you will save wear and tear on both you and your body. You should also make sure that you secure loads to avoid dents and scratches to your vehicle. You can invest in racks for bicycles, luggage and cargo to help keep anything you haul secure.

If you follow these tips and maintain your car regularly you will have a reliable vehicle for all your needs.
