Tips on Buying a Used Car

During these difficult economic times people are opting to buy a used car instead of buying a new one. If you shop around and do some research you will be able to find a good reliable used car that will fit within your budget.

Before you even start to attempt to buy a used car you should know that you have the money to buy it first. You should go to your credit union or bank and take out a loan or at least get pre-approved. This way you will know how much you can afford and what the interest rate is going to be.

If you have excellent credit you should buy from a private seller. You will be able to save money and you can also negotiate a fair price. Most private sellers want to make a quick deal so they can get the vehicle out of their driveway.

If you have fair credit you can try buying a used car from a franchised dealership. They have access to a lot of different sources who give credit. A good finance manager will help to find you a loan because they want to keep your business. The used car market is on the rebound so financial institutions are starting to lend money again.

If you have bad credit your best bet is to try and find an independent dealer. They will work with you to get you a good reliable used car. You have to shop around though, they are not all the same or all reliable. If you are using an independent dealer make sure you check them out thoroughly before you sign any contracts.

Shop around and look at what options are available to you before you decide to buy. The used car industry is on the rebound so there are plenty of golden opportunities out there no matter what you credit history may be.
